LOETB the Government Body with responsibility for managing the National Construction Training Centre at Mount Lucas focussing primarily on Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Tickets and the transfer of those to the UK equivalent (CPCS) on HSE (the UK SafePass) has awarded contract to Holden Plant Rentals for the lease with maintenance of its entire Equipment and Plant requirment used in the training College, The Multi Million Euro contract includes the supply of equipmeny covering every aspect of machine used in the Construction Sector such as Tower Cranes, Dozers, Excacavators, Dump Trucks, Elevation Equipment, Rollers, Teleporters, and Road Sweepers. Delivery commenced in April  was fully completed by August. Each machine embraces the latest technology available and ensures the College can offer a carriculum to its students which prepares them for the demanding environment of the industry sector

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) provides for the training, assessment, certification and registration of non-craft operatives within the construction sector.

LOETB had been consulting closely with stakeholders in the construction sector prior to awarding contract to Holden Plant Rentals, including the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), to ensure that new training programme responded to the needs of the industry and were linked to current and future employment opportunities. The new partnership with Holden Plant Rentals, CIF and its members, City & Guilds, and the Department of Social Protection has developed a Construction Traineeship that commenced in September. This initiative seeks to fill a recognised gap within the construction industry i.e. shortages in the availability of semi-skilled trades and it does not affect, in any way, existing or planned apprenticeships. It is proposing not only to respond to the skills shortage in certain disciplines, but also afford training and qualification in skills that were heretofore obtained by on the job experience with no formal training or instruction.
